With millions of dollars invested, seventeen seasons under their belt, and just one finals appearance, the Kolkata Knight Riders, current defending champions, continue to be one of the original franchises in the IPL with three titles to their name. As the deadline for the IPL 2025 mega auction on October 31 approaches, KKR is tasked with the crucial decision of retaining the five ideal players. So, who will they choose? Let's take a closer look.
According to a report by Cricbuzz, Ramandeep Singh might be the uncapped retention for the Kolkata Knight Riders, in spite of several reports which claimed that Harshit Rana would be that pick. In fact, the report states that KKR are likely to retain four players, of which Harshit Rana does not find a mention.
Ramandeep Singh was an integral part of the KKR side that won the IPL 2024 title. He came in later in the order at no.7 or 8 and sashed important 125 runs at a strike rate of 201. He was also one of their best fielders in the season. He would also come in handy with the ball. In fact, Ramandeeop Singh has earned his maiden India call-up in the upcoming 4-match series against South Africa.
According to the report in Cricbuzz, KKR are set to retain four players in the form of Sunil Narine, Rinku Singh, Varun Chakravarthy and Ramandeep Singh (uncapped). An earlier report stated that Shreyas Iyer and KKR had held talks regarding his retention, but his exorbitant price demands have forced the franchise to move away from him. Andre Russell is also expected to be released by the franchise.
