New Delhi: Virat Kohli delighted his fans by scoring his highly anticipated 30th Test century during the second inning of the first Test of the Border–Gavaskar Trophy in Perth. By surpassing Aussie legend Don Bradman’s record of 29 centuries, Kohli has now secured the second spot for the most Test hundreds by an Indian in foreign countries, just behind Sunil Gavaskar. The 36-year-old expressed his gratitude to his wife, Anushka Sharma, for her unwavering support and subtly shut down his critics after reaching this significant milestone.

In a heartfelt message to Anushka, Kohli said: “Anushka has been right by my side through thick and thin. She knows everything that goes on behind the scenes. Knows what goes on in the head when you’re not performing well.”

After reaching his century, India’s No. 4 player blew a flying kiss to his wife, who was in the stands supporting Jasprit Bumrah and the team. Kohli also addressed the criticism he had been facing over his form.

He also said, “I’m not someone who sticks around just for the sake of it. I take pride in performing for my country,” .

With centuries from Kohli and Yashasvi Jaiswal, India posted a massive 487/6 in their second innings. Jaiswal scored his first century in Australia, forming a record-breaking 201-run partnership with KL Rahul (77). India declared with a commanding 533-run lead.

The match seems well in India’s favor, with Jasprit Bumrah taking two wickets and Mohammad Siraj dismissing nightwatchman Pat Cummins just before stumps on Day 3. Australia now needs 522 runs to win.
