New Delhi: New Zealand captain Tim Southee mentioned during a conversation that he would love to swap lives with former Indian captain MS Dhoni for a day. Southee expressed his admiration for Dhoni and speculated on what it must be like to live the life of a cricket legend like him.

Tim Southee is among the most successful bowlers of New Zealand who have had a highly successful voyage with the ball since debuting back in 2008. The 100 Test matches, 161 ODIs, and 126 T20 Internationals feature the 35-year-old cricketer who, with a total of 765 wickets, has done so since his debut.

Not too long ago, he was in Mumbai for the CEAT Cricket Rating Awards, during which a rather intriguing question came his way: whom would he want to switch lives with, and why, if given the opportunity to be any other cricketer for a day. To this, the speedster replied as reported by Times Now about how he would love to live life for just a day as former Indian captain MS Dhoni and experience his fantastic journey and influence.

Question: If you could swap lives with any other cricketer for a day, who would it be & why? [CEAT Awards]

“MS Dhoni – just wanted to see how life will be as MS Dhoni,” said Tim Southee.

MS Dhoni is arguably the greatest captain ever to have managed the cricket team from India. He is the only skipper to have captained in all three ICC limited-overs trophies: the T20 World Cup in 2007, the ODI World Cup in 2011, and the Champions Trophy in 2013. That is not all; he has captained the Chennai Super Kings to a record-tying five IPL titles, further establishing his legacy in the history of the game as one of its greatest leaders.

Kiwi pacer Southee has truly praised his Indian counterpart Jasprit Bumrah for being an outstanding all-format bowler. He even went as far as saying that at present there seems to be no one better than Bumrah. For making an incredible comeback after a life-threatening injury, Southee lauded the pacer.

“To be able to firstly bounce back from the major injury and come back, he’s even better than what he was beforehand. Throw in on top of that, having to juggle multiple formats, can be difficult at times as well.”

“We are just seeing a great version (of Bumrah) across all three formats. He’s brilliant across all three at the moment. I don’t think there’s anyone that he’s better in (better than him), he is tremendous across all three (formats),” the 35-year-old went on to add.

Australia had won its first-ever T20 World Cup, that too being undefeated. Bumrah ended up being the Player of the Tournament, where he took 15 wickets in 8 matches, with a pristine economy of 4.18 and average 8.27.
